2016, a brand new food year.

As we prepare to start our brand new year, it is a time for both reflection on the past year and re-evaluation for the next.

First, congratulations to Nick Landry for winning our first giveaway of the new year. We are off to a good start.

I feel like EatGR has accomplished some great things. We have added significantly to membership, ran several successful food truck events, added more monthly meet-ups than in years past by hosting multiple events per month, were a restaurant week media sponsor, ran numerous successful giveaways, catalogued a few thousand photos into a photo library, put hundreds of hours into website upgrades, and we held several FOODNAMIS! when I sold a house at my day job and group members got to enjoy free food! There’s more, but I want to keep things short.

We also had a couple of setbacks as we had two failed attempts to get an application off the ground and I have still not been able to make my “food scavenger hunt” idea work. On balance, however, I feel that the good outstripped the bad by leaps and bounds.

If it wasn’t obvious to you before, a lot of work goes into making EatGR what it is. I am fortunate to have several people who volunteer to keep the things going the right direction on a daily basis. I am also fortunate to have a flexible career as a REALTOR that allows me to work on EatGR and pay for its related expenses. It is in that second capacity that I hope that you will consider me if you are looking to buy or sell a home, and, as a side effect, have more FOODNAMIS! (Free food events).

In a nutshell, we have a lot going on and a lot planned for the new year and are hopeful that we are able to keep things fresh and interesting.

HAPPY NEW YEAR and HAPPY EATING!
