Restaurant News Galore for December 2015

Clear Noodle Salad

WOW!  Lots of stuff happening in the upcoming month, Let us Begin:

Chuancai Fang is reopening today in a building that they will share with Red Sun Buffet (4176 28th St SE) over in by Sams Club on 28th street.  They closed their previous location in Wyoming nearly a year ago, but it looks like they will be up and running tomorrow with authentic Szechuan Chinese offerings.

Lindo Mexico is making their big move down the street to 1742 28th St SW, Wyoming into a brand spanking new building that will be open this Wednesday, December 2, 2015.  It was their intention to keep the original location open for about another year as a second restaurant, but I have not confirmed that they have been able to pull that off.  The big news, however, is the new location.  Make sure to check it out.  The building is beautiful and it now has a huge bar and semi-private party area.

The Old Goat is making 2 major service changes.  Starting on Tuesday, the will be open in the morning to serve simple breakfast food out of their deli in the back of the store for people on the go.  This will ultimately run Monday-Friday.  The goal is to provide quick, takeout sandwiches for people who don’t have time to sit down for breakfast.  This is a full deli as well  with other offerings.  ALSO, The Old Goat is going to start an unlimited soup and salad bar during lunch.  This will be $10 a person, and for the upstairs space only.  Just like their new morning specials, this is meant to be a quick midday lunch option for people on the go and is tentatively scheduled for 11am-2pm Monday- Friday.

Chef Len will be bringing back the magic of American Char BBQ.  He has been working on the new location for some time, and is expected to open in a couple weeks.  We will update you the second that Len gives us the OK to do so.

Whistle Punk in Muskegon has closed for what seems to be a permanent situation.  This and the closure of Mia and Grace earlier this year came as quite a shock to those of us who really enjoyed the cooking of Jeremy and Jamie Paquin.  The one good thing to come out of this is that Jeremy has shifted over to Bistro Bella Vita in Grand Rapids, so his cooking can still be had locally.

Taco's El Cunado #6
Taco’s El Cunado #6

There is a new Tacos El Cunado (#6) in Holland on (442 Bay Park Dr. Holland, MI).  This just adds to the strength of authentic Mexican food available in the Holland area.

There is a new Laotian restaurant in Holland call SaBai Laotian Cafe (3013 W. Lake Shore Dr.)  that just opened a couple of days ago.  The menu is a little heavy on Thai food presently, but it looks like more Laotian items will be added to the mix in the near future.

Manna Cafe and Speak EZ Lounge are featuring new menus and Fat Johnny’s has a new one on the horizon.

We just added the Grilling Company to the list of restaurants that offer “Check in Deals” on EatGR.  Just present your virtual membership card to receive the free side dish.

Finally , because of a home sale that I made last month, we will be holding a FOODNAMI! for people to try out the new soup and salad lunch at the Old Goat.  That contest will be run shortly on Facebook.

Well, That’s it!  A lot of news for a short period of time, but you should be up to date until our next news post.
